Student Sponsorship

The Portland Guitar society actively supports Portland-area students of the guitar.  Here are a few of our programs.

Advani Fund

The late Gulu Advani loved the guitar and was an active member of the Portland Guitar Society.  In 1991, the Society established the Advani Scholarship Fund in his memory.  The intent of the Fund is to help serious students of the guitar who have financial need pursue their studies.  Limited grants are made for lessons, master classes, sheet music, or any other expense clearly related to guitar study.  Grants are awarded at the discretion of the PGS Board of Governors based upon funds available.  Students need not be enrolled in any formal study in order to apply.

Student Instrument Loans

PGS owns a couple of excellent quality guitars, which are occasionally loaned out to students .  Please contact PGS for information.

Guitar Series Tickets

PGS occasionally sponsors promising guitar students to attend a concert and/or masterclass in the Portland Classic Guitar series.   Please contact PGS for information.
